Delete / Archive

In most cases data within HIEBus is updated in place and changes to the data will be communicated in the “current” files for the appropriate data. However, there are some cases where data should be considered as invalid and should either be marked as such or removed. An example is data that may have been associated with the wrong patient, think of an ADT registration system sending an encounter on one patient and later merging or moving that encounter to a different patient. In that case, the sending system would send “archive” records for all of the incorrect data elements on the initial incorrect patient and “current” records for all of the data elements moved to the new patient.
