Entity Relationships and Dependencies

Each incremental data set shall contain the set of data modified or inserted for a specified date range. For each modified record, the records it depends on or references shall also be included in the data set. For example, if the data set contains a lab report tied to a specific encounter, then that data set will also include the encounter that lab report references. However, each data set is not required to contain all of the objects that depend on each modified object. For example, suppose an encounter is modified because the patient has been discharged. The extract following that modification will include an encounter record representing that encounter and must include the patient record for the patient associated with the encounter whether or not that record has been modified. However, the extract following that modification will not contain all of the objects that reference that encounter such as lab reports or caregiver relationships.
